Our journey together
Discover the story of Westside Missionary Baptist Church, our foundational beliefs, and the welcoming community we've built over decades. We invite you to learn more about our past, present, and future.

Our humble beginnings
In 1957, James Watson started Westside Missionary Baptist Church as a mission of First Missionary Baptist Church in downtown Auburndale, Florida. Since then, we have been blessed with several devoted pastors, one of whom faithfully served our congregation for 40 years, guiding us through growth and spiritual development.

Our guiding principles
We are a Christ‑centered church committed to living out the teachings of Jesus through worship, discipleship, and service. We believe the Bible is the inspired and preserved Word of God, and we hold to the King James Version as our sole and trusted translation for preaching, teaching, and doctrine. We seek to grow together in authentic Christian community, relying on the power of prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us. We practice the Lord’s Supper as a sacred ordinance reserved for church members in good standing, and we uphold biblical baptism as an outward testimony of inward faith. With hearts of compassion, we reach out to our community and the world, sharing the gospel, making disciples, and encouraging every believer to use their God‑given gifts for his glory.

A home for everyone
Westside Missionary Baptist Church is a place for anyone and everyone. We believe that God's love extends to all, and we strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where you can find fellowship, spiritual growth, and a sense of belonging. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you will find a home here with us.
